Rebekah Holt is a journalist and writer.
Born in Aotearoa / New Zealand, she trained in broadcasting before establishing a career as a media and communications advisor to political parties, finance institutions and the NZ police. She subsequently worked as a Chief of Staff in TV news.
After moving to Australia she became the only journalist to gain regular access to the country’s onshore detention centres, giving her work a rare level of insight into the day-to-day reality of those imprisoned. She remains the only reporter to have filmed an interview inside an Australian onshore detention centre, using asylum seekers’ phones.
Her reporting has also appeared in Crikey, The Age, The Guardian and The Saturday Paper, on SBS and RadioNZ.
